Kathmandu – Haribhakta Kadel, Standing Committee Member of the Revolutionary Communist Party Nepal, has asserted that a true tribute to Comrade Pushpa Lal Shrestha’s revolutionary legacy will only be realized through the successful completion of the People’s Republican Revolution.
Speaking as the chief guest at the centenary and 47th memorial ceremony of Pushpa Lal Shrestha, held at Khadka Party Palace in Koteshwar, Kadel emphasized that scattered revolutionary forces must unite to bring the People’s Republican Revolution to its logical conclusion. Only then, he stressed, can the revolutionary ideals and sacrifice of Pushpa Lal be genuinely honored.
“Only by uniting all fragmented revolutionary currents and advancing the unfinished agenda of the People’s Republican Revolution can we truly respect Pushpa Lal’s revolutionary conviction, his unwavering integrity, and his dedication to the working class,” Kadel stated.
Calling on revolutionaries to avoid both exaggerating and underestimating Pushpa Lal’s contributions, Kadel urged for critical awareness in approaching historical legacies. He underscored that Pushpa Lal never sought personal gain or position, and instead dedicated his entire life to the revolutionary cause. “His personal integrity and political clarity remain an enduring inspiration to newer generations,” he added.
Reflecting on historical challenges, Kadel recalled how Pushpa Lal was removed from the General Secretary position in 2008 BS (1951 AD), just two years after founding the Communist Party of Nepal in 2006 BS (1949 AD). Despite these setbacks and the eventual fragmentation of the party, Pushpa Lal continued to organize revolutionary forces and put forward the program of the People’s Republican Revolution with renewed determination.
He remarked, “Although Pushpa Lal, the Jhapa Movement, and the leadership of the Fourth Convention all stood on the same revolutionary political line, their failure to unite is what has left the Republican Revolution incomplete to this day.”
“Only with revolutionary commitment, sincere self-criticism, and a public apology to the people can we build a unified front capable of completing the People’s Republican Revolution,” he emphasized.
He also accused various domestic and international power centers of actively working to undermine revolutionary politics in Nepal through calculated and systematic means.
